Crossways Camping Ministries Mission Statement
Bringing people together in Christ
so that lives are changed and communities enhanced.

It is time to start planning for next summer’s Confirmation Camp program. Summer Camp staff arrives in late May, starts training and are ready for you and your students on June 14, 2009. We are getting this information to you now in hopes that your congregation will be able to plan well in advance and get the week, and site, that best fits your group.

In planning for confirmation camp, it is most beneficial if all youth from a congregation attend camp together. These benefits are lost when youth attend a confirmation camp apart from their own congregation. We discourage this except in rare circumstances. However, if that is necessary, it is your responsibility to arrange for your student to participate with another congregation's group during their week, and to notify us of which group that will be.

For similar reasons, each congregation should plan in advance to have an adult leader from your congregation present for the ENTIRE WEEK. Preferably, that person would be the Pastor, AIM, Youth Director, or person responsible for confirmation instruction. Your presence (or absence) and participation IS noticed by your students.

Pastors and leaders are encouraged to attend a Confirmation Camp workshop held in April & May at the camps and at other locations around the state.  You will meet the staff and get information specific to your site and learn about the summer Bible study curriculum.  Information will be mailed and emailed to leaders of groups signed up for Confirmation Camp.

Alternate dates for Confirmation Camp are now available!
To better serve the congregations and individuals who use Confirmation Camp at Crossways to enhance their churches Confirmation Ministries, we are trying something new! For the summer of 2009 we will run Confirmation Camp and Youth Camp at the same time for several weeks. Traditional Youth Camp has several age groups on site at the same time but doing different activities, so adding Confirmation Camp to the mix will add a great dynamic to the week. This approach will also open up new weeks to Confirmation groups, allowing more flexibility in choosing weeks that will work
best for congregations.

Confirmation Camp will be offered at the same time as Youth Camp at Imago Dei Village (July 19-24 and August 2-7) and Waypost Camp (July 5-10 and July 26-31)

Looking at an alternate Confirmation Camp date? Contact Mike at Imago Dei Village (715-823-2902) or Sara at Waypost Camp (715-454-6487)

Important information about the registration process:

  • In early January, your contact person will receive registration information along with registration forms that you can duplicate for your students.

  • The Early Registration cut off date is March 15, 2009. The Early Registration deadline cutoff will be determined based on the postmark or delivery to our Appleton office. (The Appleton office is not open on Saturday, March 15.) There are NO exceptions.

  • The base rate (before early discount and “one check” group discount) for Confirmation Camp is $375.

  • A minimum of the $100 deposit is due at the time of registration. ALL registration fees (from church and/or parents) are due to Crossways by June 1, 2009. DO NOT WAIT TO BRING YOUR PAYMENT WITH YOU TO CAMP!

  • Discounts – We have two discounts that confirmation students can be eligible for. You are allowed to combine these two discounts if applicable.

    • Early Registration Discount – All registrations received before March 15th, 2009 will receive a $25 discount.
    • With One Check’ Discount – If your entire group’s registration is received with payment in full by ONE check or credit card, an additional $15 discount will apply to each registration. This applies only to group Confirmation Camp registrations. To be eligible for the discount, you must have all parents or supporting groups make their checks payable to your congregation and the congregation would send one check from the church with the registrations.

With both discounts, the cost of Confirmation Camp is $335 in 2009. Your registrations must be received by March 15th and paid by one check to receive both discounts!

The discounts may seem a little complicated so here are some examples:

    • First Street Lutheran Church sends their registrations in and are received at the Crossways office on March 8th. Each parent has written a check to Crossways for the $100 deposit. Only the $25 early registration discount would apply making the registration fee $350 per student.
    • Second Street Lutheran Church hand delivers the registrations to the Crossways office on March 14th. The students’ parents have written their checks to Second Street Lutheran Church and the Church has written a check to Crossways for the full fee for each camper. The $25 early registration discount and $15 ‘With One Check’ discount both apply making the registration fee charged $335 per student. The church has 9 students registering, so their
check is written to Crossways for a total of $3,015.
    • OOPS! Second Street Lutheran Church then has a student who turns in their registration on April 25th to the church. The parent or the church mails the registration to Crossways with payment of $375 for the full registration fee (none of the discounts would apply since the registration is late and is not included with the rest of the group).
